A: Lessons can be scheduled once or twice a week. While weekly lessons are standard for most students, twice-weekly sessions are highly recommended for young beginners who benefit from frequent guidance, as well as advanced students balancing both piano performance and composition.
Q: How does scheduling work for in-home lessons?
A: Because lessons take place in your home across Los Angeles, schedule coordination relies on location and driving routes. Upon registration, prospective students are asked to provide several preferred time windows. We will then work together to fit your lessons seamlessly into the studio schedule.
Q: Should experienced students submit a video recording?
A: Yes. If you or your child have prior musical background or existing compositions, we encourage you to share a short video or audio recording when applying. This allows Ari to gauge your current technical baseline and repertoire prior to your initial consultation.
Q: Can a student start lessons without owning a piano?
A: Yes. Students may begin lessons without an instrument at home, provided you plan to acquire a suitable instrument (an 88-key weighted digital piano or a regularly tuned acoustic piano) within 4 weeks of starting. Daily practice is essential for progress, making an at-home instrument necessary shortly after starting.
Q: What is your studio cancellation policy?
A: Lessons require a 24-hour advance cancellation notice to qualify for a makeup session. Detailed policy guidelines are provided upon enrollment.
Q: Can my child learn both piano and composition in the same lesson?
A: Yes. Many students split a 60-minute or 90-minute slot between piano performance and original composition or theory work.
Q: Do you offer trial lessons? How much is the cost?
A: Yes. Prior to ongoing enrollment, we schedule an initial consultation lesson to evaluate the student's current level, discuss long-term goals, and ensure a mutual fit. Trial lessons are offered at $50.
